These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Solace mobile application and related services ("Solace" or the "App"), operated by Verilas Digital Inc. ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using Solace, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Solace is a grief support companion app designed to provide emotional support, community connection, scripture and prayer resources, journaling tools, and AI-powered companionship for individuals experiencing grief and loss. Solace is intended to be a supportive tool and does not provide medical, psychological, or professional mental health services.
We built Solace because we believe no one should grieve alone. We also believe deeply that human connection and professional support are irreplaceable. Solace is designed to complement, not replace, that support.
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Solace. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you may not use Solace.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we believe any information provided is inaccurate, false, or violates these Terms.
By creating an account, you consent to receive transactional and service-related communications from Verilas Digital Inc. (such as account confirmations, password resets, and service updates). These communications are necessary to operate the service.
We will only send marketing or promotional communications with your express consent. You may withdraw consent and unsubscribe from commercial electronic messages at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting hilda@solaceapp.ca. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the delivery of transactional service communications.
Push notifications will only be sent where you have granted permission through your device. You may withdraw notification permissions at any time through your device settings.
Solace's Community Circles are spaces of shared grief and healing. You agree not to post content that:
We moderate community content and reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines.
All content within Solace, including the app design, text, graphics, logos, features, and functionality, is owned by or licensed to Verilas Digital Inc. and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of Solace or its content without our prior written consent.
Content you create within Solace, including journal entries, prayers, and community posts, remains yours. By posting in Community Circles, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to display that content within the app.
Solace is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your use of Solace is also subject to Apple's App Store Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's terms, Apple's terms shall govern with respect to App Store usage. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Solace. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Verilas Digital Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of Solace, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verilas Digital Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Solace. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of Solace shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Solace is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that Solace will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
Verilas Digital Inc. shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance of its obligations under these Terms arising out of or caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, power failures, internet disruptions, or third-party service outages. We will make reasonable efforts to resume service as quickly as possible.
You may stop using Solace at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Solace at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. The waiver of any such right or provision will be effective only if in writing and signed by a duly authorised representative of Verilas Digital Inc.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Verilas Digital Inc. regarding your use of Solace, and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, or representations, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein.
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, through in-app notification or email. Your continued use of Solace after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
